ExcerptShe played with their combined fingers. “And what about us?” “What about us?” He feigned ignorance. “Well, what the hell was that when we first came in here? Because at first you barely acknowledged me, and then poof, my nipple’s in your mouth.” He let go of her hand, rubbing it down his face. “Yeah, about that…” “Don’t you dare apologize!” she squealed, poking him with her finger, sounding like a shrew. He grabbed her finger. “I wasn’t going to apologize. I was going to tell you I don’t know what that was. It was like I couldn’t be around you all night without touching you.” The grin spread slowly, giddy excitement spreading throughout her. “Seriously?” He sat up and faced her so they were eye to eye. “I’ve never been more serious.” Raquel wanted to believe him, to attack him until he couldn’t see straight, but there were too many doubts that continued to swirl through her head while she tried to process everything he’d said. “What about your rule ’no dating clients’ rule?” He swallowed hard. “Let’s just say I’m going to have to trust you’re not playing me for a fool.” “I’m not.” She held up two fingers. “Scout’s honor.” He grabbed her hand, pulling her against him. He leaned down, kissing her lightly. “You were never a scout.” She put her hand on his face. “Hell, no, but you like me a little bad.”
